PEGASUS Final Conference

In October 2012, the University of Cologne, the Charles University in Prague, the Institute of Advanced Studies in Vienna, the Maastricht University; the Middle East Technical University in Ankara and the Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA) in Brussels, embarked together on a new project: PEGASUS Ph.D. The project is funded by the European Union’s Lifelong Learning Programme. Over the past 2.5 years the project partners have worked together to design a genuinely integrated European Ph.D. degree in political science on questions of European integration.

 

The project partners have the pleasure to invite you for the final conference of the PEGASUS project, focused on the dissemination of the results of the project. The conference will take place on Friday, 27th February, starting at 9.45 am. The venue of the conference is the Maastricht University Campus in Brussels (Avenue de l’Armée 10, 1040 Brussels). Over and above presenting the results of the project, the conference will also bring together different stakeholders to discuss the opportunities and challenges when developing a joint PhD programme.

PEGASUS next Steering Group Meeting and Public Lecture, 6-7 November 2014

image003The PEGASUS project (http://www.pegasusphd.eu/) is organizing its next internal Steering Group Meeting in Istanbul on November 6-7. The German-Turkish University hosts the event. Prof. Christine Neuhold (University of Maastricht) will give a public guest lecture on the European parliamentary elections in 2014.

The PEGASUS project hosted a steering group meeting in Istanbul to further discuss and finalize the work on a joint integrated European Ph.D. programme.

Prof. Dr. Christine Neuhold gave a guest lecture on 7 November: “Elections to the European Parliament 2014. What is really different this time?”

Inaugural Lecture: THESEUS Visiting Professorship
27 October 2014, Fritz Thyssen Foundation, Cologne

On 27 October, THESEUS Visiting Professor Dr Céline Belot held her inaugural lecture ‘The emergence of the EU as a political issue: cause for despair or source of hope for European integration’ at the Fritz Thyssen Foundation in Cologne. In her speech the French researcher from Sciences Po Grenoble analyzed both general developments and characteristics of politization within the EU as well as specifics of the French case. Her lecture was followed by a lively discussion with the audience, in which single aspects could be closer depicted.

image003From November 2012 onwards, TEPSA started a new project, PEGASUS, together with the University of Cologne, Charles University in Prague, the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna, the Middle East Technical University in Ankara and Maastricht University. The project which will last 2 years.

The main objective of the PEGASUS project is the development of a joint genuinely integrated European PhD programme based on a formal agreement. Its two sub-objectives are: the development of the academic content of an integrated curriculum and the development of a legal agreement between the institutions of the consortium.

In the context of this project, TEPSA will notably be involved in the design and outline the different modules composing the professional training component of the project such as academia, consultancy, public administrations clusters and will extend the reach of the PEGASUS joint PhD towards partners and practionners from the EU and public institutions, NGOs.

The kick-off meeting of the project took place in November 2012 in Cologne as well as other project’ meetings in April 2013 in Vienna, in October 2013 in Prague and in January 2014 in Brussels. The upcoming project’s meeting will take place in November 2014.
