Seminar: “China’s Belt & Road Initiative and EU-China Relations”

EUCHINA1The Baillet Latour Chair of EU-China Relations and the EU-China Research Centre, College of Europe, Bruges, organised a seminar on China’s Belt & Road Initiative. This initiative, which will have a strong impact on both Chinese domestic development and external relations in the coming decades, is regarded by China observers as a new strategy of XI’s leadership.

This event shed light on the relevance for Europe of this initiative, focusing on perceptions, infrastructure development, and the potential impact on some of the EU’s closest neighbours.

Seminar: “EU-China Bilateral Investment”

 The Baillet Latour Chair of EU-China Relations and the EU-China Research Centre, College of Europe, Bruges, organised a seminar on the ongoing negotiations of a comprehensive EU-China bilateral investment treaty .

This event’s focus was on the impact that the comprehensive agreement might have on the broader EU-China relations, building on the existing track record of investment treaties and with a specific emphasis on the Chinese views on the ongoing negotiations.

 Seminar: “EU-China Cultural Diplomacy and Cultural Trade” 

6 December 2016, China Library-College of Europe, Bruges 

The Baillet Latour Chair of EU-China Relations and the EU-China Research Centre, College of Europe, Bruges, organised a seminar on EU-China Cultural Diplomacy and Cultural Trade on 6 December 2016 with speakers from the EU and from China.

This event explored the relationship between cultural diplomacy and cultural trade, the ongoing development of cultural exchanges between the EU and China, and the differences in cultural expressions and understanding between the two sides. The issues discussed worth further research efforts and the organisers plan to produce a joint publication based on the research result.
