TEPSA Pre-Presidency Conferences

TEPSA organizes a Pre-Presidency Conference every six months in the country taking over the Presidency of the EU. This contributes to a multidisciplinary, transeuropean and informed debate on key issues and provides the opportunity to interact with EU policy makers in defining priorities.

The Czech Presidency 2009: Priorities and Prospects for the European Union

The Czech Pre-Presidency Conference took place on 4/5 December 2008 in the premises of the Czech Foreign Ministry in Prague. The conference, which was organised by TEPSA’s Czech member, the Institute of International Relations (IIR), welcomed a broad audience of local politicians, representatives of local organisations and researchers from almost all EU member states and beyond.

The French Presidency 2008: A transformative moment for the EU?

The French Pre-Presidency Conference took place on 12th and 13th June 2008 at Sciences Po, Paris. The Conference was organised by TEPSA’s French member institute Centre for European Studies of Sciences Po, in cooperation with TEPSA and the EU-CONSENT network.

The Slovenian Presidency 2008: Competitiveness, Globalisation and Cohesion

The Slovenian Pre-Presidency Conference took place on 3rd and 4th December 2007 in Ljubljana. The conference was organised by TEPSA’s Slovenian member institute Centre of International Relations, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, TEPSA & EU-CONSENT Network of Excellence in cooperation with Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Government Office for European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Ljubljana, and European Commission Representation in the Republic of Slovenia, Ljubljana, and with the support of the European Commission under the 6th framwork programme.

The Portuguese Presidency 2007

The Portuguese Pre-Presidency Conference took place on 26-27 June 2007 in Lisbon. The conference was organised by by TEPSA’s Portuguese member Institute IEEI (Instituto de Estudos Estrategicos e Internacionais) and the network of excellence EUCONSENT as well as the Secretario de Estado dos Asuntos Europeus/MNE.

The German Presidency 2007: Moving the EU forward

The German Pre-Presidency Conference took place on 30 November and 1 December 2006 in Berlin. The conference was organised by TEPSA’s German member institute IEP Institut für Europäische Politik, TEPSA & EU-CONSENT Network of Excellence with support of the Federal Foreign Office, the European Commission and the ASKO EUROPA-STIFTUNG.

The Luxembourg Pre-Presidency Conference took place on 3 December 2004 in Luxembourg. The conference was organised by TEPSA’s Luxembourg member institute, Centre d’études et de recherches Robert Schuman in cooperation with TEPSA.

The Dutch Presidency 2004

The Dutch Pre-Presidency Conference took place on 25 June 2009 in the Hague. The conference was organised by TEPSA’s Dutch member institute Netherlands Institute for International Relations Clingendael in cooperation with TEPSA.

The Irish Presidency 2004

The Irish Pre-Presidency Conference took place on 27-28 November 2003 in Dublin. The conference was organised by the Institute of European Affairs and TEPSA.

The Italian Presidency 2003

The Italian Pre-Presidency Conference took place on 27-28 June 2003 in Rome. The conference was organised by TEPSA’s Italian member institute Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) in cooperation with TEPSA, and supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affaris, the European Commission and the Compagnia di San Paolo.

The Greek Presidency 2003: Structuring a New Europe: Steady Foundations and Fresh Concepts

The Greek Pre-Presidency Conference took place on 14-15 November 2002 in Athens. The conference was organised by TESPA’s Greek Member Institute Greek Centre of European Studies and Research, EKEME, in collaboration with TEPSA and under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
