The (European) Federalist: “If there were European elections next Sunday (June 2020)” (IEP, Germany)

What will the “new normal” look like after Corona? Where will there be a return to the previous state, what changes will be permanent? In addition to many other areas of society, this question also arises for the European electoral surveys. These were heavily shaken up by the Corona crisis: the last seat projection at the end of April showed a clear rally’round-the-flag effect in the wake of the pandemic, with the party of the respective heads of government gaining heavily in many EU Member States. All in all, this benefited the two largest European groups, the conservative EPP and the Social Democrat S&D, whose poll ratings jumped at the height of the crisis.
