15th Migration Summer School, 24th June – 5th July, EUI, Florence15th Migration Summer School
Topic: “Bridging the Gaps: Connecting Research, Public Debates and Policy-Making”
International migration is a central topic in public political debate in Europe and elsewhere. It is a critical policy domain for governments at all levels, as well as for both sending and receiving societies and it is an increasingly relevant phenomenon for the understanding of global dynamics and interactions. International cooperation in the field of migration and asylum is also attracting increasing amounts of resources and actors worldwide. As a result, more and more professionals and researchers are engaging in international migration issues as part of their work.
Teaching staff includes members of the Migration Policy Centre as well as other academics and policy professionals dealing with migration and related public policy issues. In addition to lectures, inter-active workshops and debates, the programme includes time for independent study and research. Participants will be encouraged to translate perceived societal problems into social scientific research questions. The Summer School is a unique opportunity to network with other participants (a selected group of researchers and practitioners from throughout the world), have access to some outstanding scholars in the field, and take advantage of the research facilities of the European University Institute (including the EUI Library).
