    Czech Pre-Presidency Conference, Prague, 23-24 May 2022

    Prague, Czechia

On 1 July 2022, France will hand over the Presidency of the Council of the EU to Czechia, which will hold its reigns once again, for the second time since becoming an EU Member State in 2004. During the next six months, the Czech Presidency will have to sail through troubled waters to address some of the most pressing EU issues, such as the Union’s response to the ongoing war of aggression being waged by Russia in Ukraine, as well as managing multiple ongoing files, such as the implementation of the EU Green Deal, reacting to the conclusion of the Conference on the Future of Europe, and much more.

To scrutinise the priorities and challenges of the Presidency, TEPSA and its Czech Member Institute, the Institute of International Relations in Praguewill host the Czech Pre-Presidency Conference on 23 and 24 May 2022 in Prague.

On the occasion of the Czech Pre-Presidency Conference, TEPSA will also present to Czech officials the Recommendations from the members of the TEPSA network to the incoming Czech Presidency. Our recommendations will also be available to read online.

The conference will bring together academics, policy-makers, media and civil society in order to discuss the agenda and challenges of the upcoming Presidency. More specifically, the conference will assess the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on the future of European security, but it will also explore a number of other key issues, such as the significance of the recent political reshuffle in Central Europe, the recommendations of the Conference on the Future of Europe as well as the new challenges to the Green Deal initiative. Speakers will be announced soon.
