Conference: “Security versus Privacy”

Location: Fondation Universitaire, Rue d’Egmont 11, 1000 Brussels

Date: Wednesday, 11 February 2009, at 9.30

The threat of terrorism, especially after 11 September 2001, has led to a growing necessity of control and security measures in order to protect citizens. This, on the other hand, results in state authorities collecting a large amount of personal data, thus endangering privacy. The crucial question, also with regard to the European citizens’ demands in light of the European Elections 2009, is where the border of security and privacy has to be drawn. This conference is organised in co-operation with TEPSA’s Greek member institute EKEME.
