On 21 January 2022, AmCham Slovenia hosted its traditional business breakfast debate – this time in a hybrid format. At the event entitled ‘Slovenia on the Carousel of Change in the Global Economy’, Slovenia’s Foreign Minister dr. Anže Logar, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Slovenia Tibor Šimonka and prof. dr. Andreja Jaklič from the Centre of International Relations at the Faculty of Social Sciences (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia) discussed the challenges and opportunities related to this change for Slovenia. Andreja Jaklič thereby stressed the importance of cooperation, agility, digitalization, sustainable business models and employee training for economic success and prosperity. She highlighted that the rising energy prices and costs due to halted deliveries will present some of the main challenges for businesses in 2022 – also because they are eating into funds for innovation. The discussion was moderated by Ajša Vodnik, CEO of AmCham Slovenia.
