Call for Applications: VIADUCT PhD Workshop – “The EU and Turkey at a Crossroad? Crisis, Change, and Reform”

As part of the VIADUCT Project, the ETH Zürich and Sabancı University Istanbul are organising a three-day PhD Workshop on “The EU and Turkey at a Crossroad? Crisis, Change and Reform”. The workshop covers both EU-Turkey relations and developments within the EU.

The EU-Turkey relationship is at a crossroad. It will be shaped by the interaction of Turkish politics and the Turkish economy, on the one hand, and the development of European integration and the domestic politics of its member states, on the other. Understanding this interaction requires a comprehensive approach encompassing politics, security, economics, energy, migration as well as identity, the future of the EU and new forms of relations between the EU-27 and its neighbouring countries.

We invite PhD candidates to discuss their research on the topics outlined in the call for applications with their peers and senior academic colleagues. If you are interested please send your application compiled within one PDF document to Prof. Frank Schimmelfennig (frank.schimmelfennig@eup.gess.ethz.ch) by 2 January, 2019.

The workshop will take place on 18 – 20 March 2019 at Sabancı University in Istanbul, Turkey.
