Objectives
To recognise outstanding teaching in the fields of EU-Turkey relations and the Future of the EU: new forms of relations between the EU-27 and neighbouring countries. Teaching excellence comes in
many forms and may include, but are not limited to:
- inspirational lectures, given with clarity and verve, inspiring a new generation to study the EU;
- engaging and inclusive seminar teaching that allows students to question and critique texts and interpretations of EU-Turkey relations and/or new forms of relations between the EU and neighbouring countries;
- simulation games or online courses.
The intention is to reach out beyond the VIADUCT Network and spread best practice in the field wherever it is taught from Vancouver to Vladivostok. Nominations are welcome from those teaching beyond the VIADUCT network.
Awards will be made at the inaugural VIADUCT annual conference in April 2018. Three prizes will be awarded:
- 1st Prize – €600
- 2nd Prize – €300
- 3rd Prize – €100
Nominations
Heads of Department are invited to nominate outstanding teachers in the field of EU-Turkey relationsbroadly defined. Self-nominations are also welcome. Nominations should include the name of the individual nominated and a short statement explaining why they should be considered for this award.
Excellence can cover many different aspects of teaching including providing new insights, innovative methods, or simply inspiring students. University teaching whether on full-time or part-time courses or teaching summer schools or similar are eligible.
