“Coronabonds and Eurobonds: the stakes for the Eurozone”, Laurent Baechler, Arnaud leconte and Jean-Claude Vérez (CIFE)

After having hypothesised that eurobonds ought to be instituted  as a result of the effects of the 2007-2008 financial crisis, now that the coronavirus poses a similar economic crisis, coronabonds have been championed by various EU policymakers over the last few weeks. These would both be governed by the European Central Bank, but we shouldn’t treat these two disparate policy solutions as one and the same.
