The cooperation activities of the German partners are financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany (BMBF). The university aims to merge the achievements of Turkish and German higher education traditions and create a unique study and research environment in an outstanding research university. All study programmes have been jointly developed by TAU/TDU and the German partner universities and all courses are taught by German and Turkish professors. German is used as the language of instruction in most of the bachelor’s degree programmes. Students without German language skills study German for one academic year at the School of Foreign Languages. English is also taught as a second language and the language of instruction in certain master’s degree programme. Double degree programmes with partner universities in Germany, funded by DAAD-YÖK Joint Scholarship Programme, are emerging. Students and professors have multiple opportunities to study or research stay at the partner universities in Germany.

The Turkish-German University has five faculties, responsible for the management of bachelor’s degree programmes, and two institutes, offering graduate programmes leading to master’s and Ph.D. degrees.
