Distinction: Patrick Le Galès, CNRS research director at Sciences Po, CEE, elected as President of the Society for Advanced socio- economics (SASE)

During 2012 conference, organized by the MIT, Patrick Le Gales, political scientist and sociologist, research director at the Center for European Studies, was elected president of the Society for Advanced socio-economics.
The Society for Advanced socio-economics – SASE – is an international scientific organization, created twenty-five years ago and brings together sociologists, political scientists, economists, lawyers and managers historically from Europe and North America and Japan today they are also from Latin America and China.
SASE focus on social and political dynamics of the economy and the various forms of capitalism with a particular interest in issues of institutional, corporate and regulations of contemporary economies. SASE publishes the Socio-Economic Review, published by Oxford University Press and is also associated with the Journal of Institutional Economics. The General Secretariat, provided by Martha Zuber, is located in the CSO. In recent years, economic sociology and comparative political economy were fully developed at Sciences Po. These developments have enabled Sciences Po to play an increasingly important role within SASE. For three years, Patrick Le Gales, Christine Musselin and Cornelia Woll were elected members of its Executive Board. They have been joined today by Marion Fourcade who co-directs the center MaxPo newly created at Sciences Po in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies. Didier Demazière directs one of 15 research networks (Network Professions and Organisations).
In 2009, the SASE annual conference was organized by researchers from the Centre for European Studies and from the Center of sociology organizations. These annual conferences bring together between 800 and 1,000 social scientists.
During 2012 conference, organized by the MIT, Patrick Le Gales, political scientist and sociologist, research director at the Center for European Studies, has been elected president during the conference held at the University of Milan in June 2013. He will devote his research to the crisis of the states.
