Upon invitation by the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Free 
Economic Society (VEO) of Russia, and the International Union of Economists (IUE), a member of the Centre of International Relations at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana (CIR) Dr. Marjan Svetličič, Professor Emeritus, attended the first International Moscow Academic Economic Forum (MAEF) that took place in Russia on 15 and 16 May 2019. The topic of the forum was ‘Prospects of Socio-Economic Development and Role of Science: Academic Discourse.’ At the event that hosted more than 2000 attendees, Dr Svetličič discussed the challenges of globalization/deglobalization and the role of academics.
