EU Diplomacy Lecture “The EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, 17 years on” by Dr. Javier Solana, 27 October 2016, College of Europe, Bruges


The Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies at the College of Europe in Bruges is organising the third “EU Diplomacy Lecture” in Bruges.

Dr. Javier Solana, President of the ESADE Centre for Global Economy and Geopolitics (Madrid-Barcelona), and former EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, will deliver a high-level lecture on the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy. As the EU finds itself surrounded by a host of challenges, the time has come to take decisive steps to boost the Union’s common foreign and security policy. Dr. Javier Solana will outline the current state of the conflicts surrounding the EU’s borders and offer his outlook for the future. In this context, he will also analyze the new approach offered in the EU Global Strategy. The lecture will be followed by a short Q&A session and a reception.
