The end of the year 2020 also marked the end of the German Presidency of the Council of the EU. During the digital lunchtime meeting on December 15th 2020, the participants reflected on the work of the past six months and also discussed the difficulties of the past year. Despite significant challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Presidency has been successful. In addition to the incidence figures and the lockdown, discussions about the EU budget and a sustainable rule of law mechanism made things more difficult and overshadowed relevant topics such as the EU migration policy or the investment agreement with China.
