Lecture and Workshop: “Soft Power in Transatlantic Relations” (College of Europe, Bruges)

 In the framework of the Master of Arts in Transatlantic Affairs (MATA), jointly offered by the College of Europe and The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Tufts University), and in cooperation with the EU-funded Horizon 2020 project EL-CSID (European Leadership in Cultural, Science and Innovation Diplomacy), the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium, is organising a workshop on “Soft Power in Transatlantic Relations” on 13 and 14 April 2018.

The workshop will be kicked off with a keynote lecture on “The role of soft power in transatlantic relations”, delivered by Professor Giles SCOTT-SMITH (Professor of Diplomatic History of Transatlantic Relations since WW II, Leiden University), on 13 April 2018 (16:30-18:00). The lecture will be followed by a reception.

The workshop sensu stricto takes place on 14 April 2018 (9:00-16:15). It focuses on a topic of growing importance at times of strained transatlantic relations over issues such as security and trade, namely the role of soft power and “soft diplomacy” in transatlantic relations.

The keynote lecture and workshop are open to the public. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required before 9 April 2018 at 12:00. Places for the workshop on 14 April are limited. The working language is English.
