Political confrontation and Trump’s protectionist rhetoric in the wake of Covid-19 have become additional factors of polarization in American society, divided between detractors and followers of Trump. The polarisation arising from the management of the pandemic adds to issues such as immigration or the confrontation with China and may increase as the November elections approach.
