Workshop: “Back to the future? Japan-China-US power politics”, September 2 (RSCAS-EUI, Italy)

This workshop hosts major academics working on US, China and Japan’s foreign and security policies hailing from three continents in a event devoted to the discussion of contemporary triangular relations.

2022 marks 50 years since President Richard Nixon’s surprise visit to China and the landmark Shanghai Communique, but also 50 years since the normalisation of diplomatic relations between Japan and China. Tokyo and Washington have consistently engaged China throughout most of these five decades, while China’s rise during the 21st Century brought along stormy power political undercurrents beneath Japan-China-US relations.

This workshop includes the participation of major academics working on US, China and Japan’s foreign and security policies hailing from three continents in a event devoted to the discussion of contemporary triangular relations.

Kindly note this event will be recorded.
