Europeans should reflect on the consequences of Israel’s ongoing disenfranchisement of Palestinian rights, the last iteration of which is Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s threat of annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank. Paradoxically, Israel’s threat of annexation should be viewed as an opportunity to focus politics and policy on a decades-long drama unfolding before our eyes and on which we as Europeans have become progressively more complicit as the decades have gone by.
