Germany’s EU Council Presidency 2020 – Achieving more than managing expectations in challenging times (IEP, Germany)

In the first #BerlinPerspectives Policy Brief, Katrin Böttger and Funda Tekin analyze the special challenges and high expectations of the German EU Presidency in times of COVID-19. They advocate that Germany should strive for more than just a “Corona Presidency” and should take the chance to advance the European integration project. The German Presidency should, on the one hand, prioritize the most pressing issues such as economic reconstruction, the MFF and Brexit, and on the other hand should not shy away from fundamental debates about the future of the European project.
