The pandemic that has beset us for more than a year has had serious effects on public health, the economy, employment, and inequalities, especially in the urban sphere, which has concentrated 95% of the world’s COVID-19 cases. This situation presents a range of challenges that recovery policies will have to address, but it also offers a scenario for (re)construction that should allow us to advance towards a generation of more egalitarian and resilient societies. If this is to happen, it will be essential to pay due attention to the various kinds of care work without which there would be no social reproduction or survival.
