Job Vacancy: “Project Manager”, Deadline November 1 (CIDOB, Barcelona)

CIDOB is a think tank for international affairs that seeks to analyse global issues that affect political, social and governance dynamics, from the international to the local. As a recognised independent institution, CIDOB pursues excellence and rigour in its analysis, publications and projects.

It aims to be a useful tool for society, to ensure open access to knowledge and to promote the study of international issues that affect citizens’ daily lives. CIDOB seeks relevance and social impact for its research and attends to public institutions’ needs and requests for international information, aiming to influence decision-making processes and provide alternative visions.

CIDOB promotes innovation in the analysis of global politics, with the aim of transcending classical international relations structures and considering the growing impact of global phenomena on local realities and vice versa. 


CIDOB opens a call to hire a Project Manager under the direction and supervision of CIDOB’s Head of Projects Department. Applicants must have experience in the management of all phases of the project cycle (especially with EU funded projects) and in the compliance of funders’ requirements. They must know how to work both independently and in a team. He/she will work with the Head of Projects Department, the other project managers as well as with the researchers at CIDOB. This job requires flexibility, communication skills, strong organisational capabilities and a collaborative spirit. 

  • University degree is required
  • At least 5 years of professional experience as project manager
  • Strong knowledge of management of all phases of the European projects cycle, particularly Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects
  • Experience in project implementation, reporting and justification
  • Experience in preparation and presentation of calls and tenders
  • Experience in seeking funding for projects is considered an asset
  • Languages: Catalan, Spanish and English (spoken and written) are essential
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Advanced Excel skills 
  • Management of the implementation and reporting of ongoing projects (Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, among others)
  • Fundraising (applying to calls/tenders) for new projects 

Contract conditions: full-time permanent contract.

People from states other than those that are part of the European Union must provide a residence and work permit, in accordance with current regulations.

Remuneration: In accordance with employment category IV contemplated in CIDOB Collective Labor Agreement and depending on the experience of the candidate

Location: Barcelona

Foreseen approximate starting date: December 1, 2022 (possible flexibility in case of mutual agreement)
