The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) is actively expanding its research focus on Asia and international relations, seeking an experienced senior researcher with expertise in the field of China, diplomacy, and international relations. The position available is a full-time, two-year postdoctoral role within the project “Chinese Anger Diplomacy (ANGER)”, which is funded by the Research Council of Norway (RCN). This interdisciplinary project examines the role of diplomacy in a world marked by escalating international tensions. Specifically, it focuses on the impact of Chinese criticism directed at states and organizations, and how this criticism affects China’s international influence. The candidate will be part of NUPI’s Center for Asian Research and will also be linked to NUPI’s newly formed Centre for Geopolitics, funded by the Norwegian government through the RCN. The candidate will be expected to work in Oslo, Norway. The senior researcher will be part of a highly qualified international team and be responsible for independent research and publishing results. Pending performance and funding, the position may be prolonged.
