News from the Norwegian Institute for International Affairs (NUPI)

nupi_logo_english_rgb-2The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) will coordinate the H2020 project EUNPACK, starting in 2016.

The project will focus on EU crisis response mechanisms, in order to improve their conflict sensitivity and efficiency. EUNPACK will bring together researchers from all over Europe with expertise on the EU and on conflict. This enables a systematic evaluation not only of the EU’s mandates and intentions, but also of how these are understood in the countries where the EU is involved in responding to crisis through various mechanisms. Project manager is Morten Bøås, research professor at NUPI.

The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) co-establishes a new research centre on extremism –the Centre for Research on Extremism (C-REX).

The centre will initially be established for a period of five years, and is founded in collaboration with the University of Oslo, the Norwegian Police University College (PHS), the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), the Centre for Studies of Holocaust and Religious Minorities, the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) and NUPI. Professor Tore Bjørgo (PHS and NUPI) will head C-REX.
