The College of Europe is pleased to announce that Mrs Federica MOGHERINI will become Rector from 1 September 2020. The official signing over of duties took place on Tuesday 25 August 2020 in the presence of Rector Jörg MONAR, whose mandate ends on Monday 31 August, President of the Administrative Council Herman VAN ROMPUY and Treasurer Norbert VANHOVE.
Jörg MONAR and his successor, Mrs Federica MOGHERINI, were received by Mayor Dirk DE FAUW. On this occasion the Mayor kindly conferred upon Rector MONAR the honorary citizenship of the City of Bruges together with a gift.
On Friday 28 August 2020, Rector Jörg MONAR gave a lecture to commemorate 70 years of the College of Europe. He introduced the audience to his interesting reflections on how Bruges became the seat of the College, and what life was like from the college’s early days.
