Prof. dr. Andreja Jaklič from the Centre of International Relations, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, spoke at Coviada (an event organised to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana). She discussed the changes in international economic relations in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and highlighted how:
- Protectionism in international trade has been enhanced, multilateralism weakened, multipolarity increased, and digitalisation and 4.0 transformation accelerated;
- Global value chains have been transformed;
- Slovenian companies reacted to the pandemic.
She stressed that (interdisciplinary) knowledge and skills as well as collaboration proved to be crucial in responding and coping with the crisis, and said that institutions of knowledge institutions can play an important role in this.
