After more than 20 years of relentless work and commitment to TEPSA as Chairman of the Board, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wessels (Jean Monnet Chair ad personam, University of Cologne) has chosen to step down. Wolfgang Wessels has been involved in TEPSA since the very beginning in 1974 and has greatly contributed to the association in every way possible.
The TEPSA Secretariat wishes to thank him for enriching the Trans European Policy Studies Association with his vision, enthusiasm and dedication. We are confident that our cooperation will not end here.
During the last TEPSA General Assembly, which took place in Bratislava on 2 June 2016, the TEPSA members gathered in order to elect a new Chairperson of the TEPSA Board. On that occasion, Prof. Dr. Michael Kaeding (Jean Monnet Chair ad personam, University of Duisburg-Essen) was elected Chairman nemine contradicente.
Michael Kaeding has been teaching European Integration and European Union Politics at the Department of Political Science of the University of Duisburg-Essen since 2012, and holds an ad personam Jean Monnet Chair in “Understanding EU Decision Making and Member States’ Compliance with EU Policies”. Since 2013 he is Visiting Fellow at the European Institute of Public Administration (TEPSA Associate Member), Honorary Fellow at the University of Maastricht and Visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Bruges. He received his PhD from Leiden University and is a Fulbright alumnus. Since 2007 he provides trainings for European and national civil servants in Brussels for the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) and the European Administrative School (EAS). He is Associate Editor of the SSCI-Journal of European Integration and has published numerous academic articles, policy briefs and newspaper contributions.
The new Chairman will take office as from 1st July 2016, for mandate of 3 years. We look forward to a fruitful cooperation with him!
