In the wake of the controversy surrounding Huawei many in Europe have come to regard the continent as being hopelessly behind when it comes to 5G technology, a fact which may not be borne out by an analysis of patent ownership and rollout in Europe. Indeed, the absence of Huawei from the US market may provide opportunities for European companies.
