Lunch Talk on “The Role of the EU Special Envoy for the Peace Process in the Middle East”, 11 June 2013, Institut für Europäische Politik (IEP), Berlin. 

On 11 June the IEP hosted a lunch talk with Andreas Reinicke, the EU Special Representative to the Middle East Peace Process. Reinicke clarified the foreign and domestic role of his position as well as the EU’s value as a neutral mediator in the Middle East conflict. Reinicke suggested that Israel’s security faces a greater challenge from its settlement plan than it would from a peace treaty and ought to become a teammate of other states in the region.

Lunch Talk on “The Necessity of European Union Reform and its Scope: Efficiency, Democracy, and Solidarity”, 28 May 2013, Institut für Europäische Politik (IEP), Berlin.

On 28 May IEP hosted a lunch talk with Jo Leinen, member of the European Parliament and President of the European Movement International. Leinen discussed the necessity of European Union reform by first taking stock of the current situation and then suggesting how the crisis had shown the weaknesses of the EU system. Leinen summarized the need for reform across a variety of fields and emphasized the necessity of a new narrative and objective for Europe based in stability and prosperity in a globalized world.
