“My thesis focuses on aid from the Common Agricultural Policy – the CAP – and how this aid is experienced and perceived by farmers in France and Spain. The comparison between France and Spain allows me to show that the administrative part of the CAP – the forms, the aid application files, the administrative checks of the beneficiaries, the way in which the field administrations and the agricultural organisations accompany the farmers in their efforts – all these elements are decisive for understanding how farmers live and perceive the CAP in both countries, and also through what mechanisms this public policy transforms their profession.”
