TEPSA first University Debate: Climate Change and
Sustainability hosted by FIIA and the University of Helsinki

On September 22 2021, TEPSA has organized, alongside its partners, the first of four University
Debate, in Finnish, on the subject of Climate Change and Sustainability

BRUSSELS, 22/09/2021: In the framework of the European Parliament Multi-annual Work Programme for Grants in the area of communication and, more precisely, within the project “European Policies for You”, TEPSA has organised, with its partner institutions, a University Debate aimed at involving young students in the EU debate of Climate Change and Sustainability. The event is taking place on September 22, 2021, at 11am (CET).

TEPSA aims to raise citizens’ awareness of EU policy-making, engaging Finnish students in discussions about the work of the EU and the EP in the area of Climate and the Environment.

The debate, moderated by Dr. Emma Hakala, Senior Research Fellow at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA), will be attended by MEP Alviina Alametsä, of the Group of the Greens and the European Free Alliance, Ellen Ojala, Finnish Climate Activist, and Ismo Ulvila, Head of Communications of the European Commission’s Representation in Finland.

In this debate, TEPSA aims to create of a discussion regarding climate actions among the youth and how they can and will influence the EU in directing its effort to combat climate change. This will create a community of European citizens who are well informed about the EU and its work, and who are equipped with the critical tools to engage in an informed debate about some key policy areas.
