“The added value of the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI), and its revision”, Julian Plottka (IEP, Germany)

The study on the European Added Value of the European Citizens’ Initiative written by Julian Plottka, Carmen Gerstenmeyer, Julia Klein and Amelie Tittel for the European Parliamentary Research Service has been published. The study contributes to the ongoing reform of the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI). The authors assess how the different proposals to reform the regulation affect the ECI’s potential to generate a European added value and to strengthen European level democracy. At our first EU Breakfast Debate on Europe Day, 9 May 2018, Julian Plottka presented the study.
