Elcano Debates: “The role of the European Union in Technological and Commercial War”, 27th June 2019 (Elcano, Spain)

This debate concerned the role of Europe in the rapidly evolving international economic landscape. Participants sought to define a European role in a world economy which promises to move away from the liberal international order of the second half of the twentieth century, and towards a re-emergence of nationalism, among other phenomena. The debate, chaired by the director of the Elcano Royal Institute, featured Lourdes Casanova, director of the Emerging Markets Institute, as well as Senior and Principal investigators of the Royal Institute.
