Towards #NATO2030: Latvia’s Challenges and Interests (LIIA, Latvia)

On May 11, the Latvian Institute of International Affairs held an online discussion with the aim of raising awareness of various NATO-related issues in the Alliance’s adaptation process. High-level professionals and experts took part in the discussion about what challenges NATO will face in the next decade, what the adaptation measures should be, as well as Latvia’s position in the context of this adaptation process.

Discussion participants were: Andris Sprūds, Director of the Latvian Institute of International Affairs, Professor of Riga Stradiņš University and Dean of the Faculty of European Studies; Baiba Braže, NATO Deputy Secretary General for Public Diplomacy; Jānis Garisons, State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense; Imants Lieģis, Senior Researcher in Latvian Institute of International Affairs, Mārtiņš Vērdiņš, security expert. Discussion moderator was Mārtiņš Vargulis, researcher at Latvian Institute of International Affairs.

The discussion was a continuation of the publications developed by the LIIA last year: “Transatlantic Futures: Towards # NATO2030” and “Towards # NATO2030: The Regional Perspective of the Baltic States and Poland”.
