Thomas Wucthe (Head of the OSCE Transnational Threats Department/Action against Terrorism Unit) first outlined how the OSCE intends to enhance efforts to address the issue of foreign terrorist fighters and support the recent UN Strategy on Preventing Violent Extremism.  He explained how the OSCE’s comprehensive approach to security, which embraces human rights and democracy, economics and the environment as well as politico-military security, offers a coherent method to address violent extremism and radicalisation that leads to terrorism. Mr Wuchte also discussed the Ministerial Declaration on “Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism and Radicalisation that Lead to Terrorism” which was adopted by the 57 OSCE participating States in December 2015.
