Video: “Failed States and Loose Governance” (CIFE)

What is a weak state and why can states “fail” in a roll-back of democracy and good governance? In a workshop at CIFE in Nice with the students of the “Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs”, these and other questions were discussed with experts in the field. Capital flight and brain drain, corruption, and loss of legitimacy, are all aspects of state fragility.

In this video, Michel-Henry Bouchet, Emeritus Finance Professor and Fund Advisor, resumes the main traits of a weak state and sets them in the context of globalisation and the COVID-19 pandemic.
