Out of ease of expression and the desire to depict those we vehemently disagree with in the worst possible terms, people have invented the concept of “the political enemy”. This concept has recently moved beyond simple linguistic convenience, and has become an epithet to describe the inherent personal characteristics of those whose views we find totally incompatible with our own.
