The Korean Peninsula is currently immersed in a dangerous dynamic of increasing tensions with the US. However, armed intervention or sanctions are not the appropriate response to the regime’s challenge to non-proliferation. Instead, governments must turn to political dialogue with urgency. The European Commission could play a mediating role.
